Pōhutukawa

Created with the inspiration of the Matariki star, Pōhutukawa, this set connects us with those that have passed on. I’m the middle fingers, the dark background at the top symbolises the sky and the white background symbolises the ground, while the Pōhutukawa flowers symbolise a hand reaching down from the heavens and a hand reaching up to it from the ground. The red foils on the sky nails represent our tāongas in the sky and on the white nails, they represent how our grief, albeit sad, can grow into something beautiful.
